The back half of BG-183 opened: the Steve Miller Blues Band with Albert King and Mountain.
Albert King is the one to stop on. His *Born Under a Bad Sign* had come out the previous year on Stax, cut with Booker T. and the MGs, and it turned a Mississippi-born left-handed guitarist who played a right-handed Flying V upside down into the single most imitated blues stylist of the next decade — Clapton, Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan all took from him directly. Mountain, third, were brand new: Leslie West and Felix Pappalardi had formed them that year and would play Woodstock as their fourth-ever show.
