Sunday, September 3, 1967 was the closing night of Cream's Fillmore Auditorium engagement — the last of the six dates on Jim Blashfield's BG-80, which had carried the band from August 29 after Bonnie MacLean's BG-79 covered the opening run.

The bill closed as it had run: Cream, the Electric Flag, and vibraphonist Gary Burton. This chronicle records the run's one documented substitution the way the venue lists do — Michael Erlewine's Prime Movers replaced the Electric Flag for one of these shows, and which night is not preserved. It could have been this one.

What the Fillmore stand did for Cream is the reason it is remembered: it gave a British blues trio a room, a residency and an audience that wanted length, five months after their actual American debut had them playing a single song five times a day on a Murray the K package bill in New York.
