Wednesday, August 30, 1967 was night two of Cream, the Electric Flag and Gary Burton at the Fillmore Auditorium, on Jim Blashfield's BG-80.

The poster is the strangest thing Blashfield made for Graham, and classicposters calls it probably his most interesting. Its central image is a man's face and upper body; he appears to be holding a large hand-puppet of a bird. The band names run across the top in what collectors call the Roller alphabet — one of the constructed display faces that circulated among the poster artists, passed hand to hand and reused, the way a workshop shares a tool. It was printed on white index stock at roughly 14 by 21 inches, and a second printing exists with a yellow border.

Blashfield had drawn BG-78 two weeks earlier, his first in the series, and would go on from posters to animation and win awards for it.

The run itself is the reason Cream mattered in America. The Fillmore listings attach the same note to every date: Michael Erlewine's Prime Movers replaced the Electric Flag for one of these shows, and which night is not recorded. It could have been this one. This chronicle carries the substitution as the sources do — real, and undated.
