Closing night of Junior Walker & the All Stars at the Fillmore West with Lee Michaels and Tony Joe White — the back half of BG-185.
Junior Walker was a Motown act, and a genuinely unusual one: an instrumentalist, a tenor saxophonist whose "Shotgun" and "(I'm a) Road Runner" were built on his playing rather than a vocal group. Tony Joe White, third, had written "Polk Salad Annie" that year. The bill is Motown, a Bay Area organ player and a Louisiana swamp-rock songwriter, which is a fair sample of how wide a single Fillmore West week could be by 1969.

ANTAGONIST-CHECKED. 1969-08-10=Sunday; closing night of the Junior Walker & the All Stars / Lee Michaels / Tony Joe White back half (Aug 8-10) of David Singer's BG-185 at the Fillmore West. BG-185 is a single Aug 5-10 sheet: its FRONT half (Aug 5-7) advertised Fleetwood Mac + SRC but Fleetwood Mac did NOT play (actual bill Butterfield / It's a Beautiful Day / SRC, the live 08-05 hero, id 316); jerrybase (run 835) records the run was originally a Grateful Dead / Fleetwood Mac DOUBLE booking (both headliners fell through), and Singer removed the Dead's name at the last moment leaving a blank on the poster (antagonist-corrected: not Dead-only). This Junior Walker back half is the part that ran as printed. Secondary.
